What’s new from ProContour?
Traffic, trends and technology. And, of course, all you need to know about the people behind them.
Uniform rules on tread depth already apply across Europe. These will be accompanied by a widespread tyre-awareness campaign organised by the automotive clubs in the respective countries. Will stricter tyre checks and sanctions in long-distance haulage in particular result in greater safety on Europe’s roads? We don’t know. But we promise that you will be one of the first to find out.
ProContour at Leipzig-Altenburg airport
ProContour presented its new service concept as part of an information event on driver assistance systems in commercial vehicles of the German Council on Traffic Safety (Deutsches Verkehrssicherheitsrat).
On 31 August electronic driver assistance systems in various commercial vehicles will be presented at Leipzig-Altenburg airport. During live demonstrations the participants in the event will be given an opportunity to experience driver assistance systems in use. Above all it is to be demonstrated that the systems make a major contribution to accident prevention.
The tyre measurement system from ProContour also contributes to traffic safety and the new service concept eliminates the need for the driver to manually check the tyre condition.

ProContour presents standard products with new functions
ProContour GmbH from Waldshut-Tiengen showcased its products for the second time at the Reifen trade fair in Essen. The new products launched in the spring were also premiered. In addition to just measuring tyre tread depth, these also analyse the wear pattern, which indicates whether the chassis has been adjusted correctly, and automatically distinguish between summer and winter tyres. Thanks to live transmission from a measurement point and the showcased measuring modules, the numerous trade visitors were able to see the function and quality of the system for themselves. Now into its 26th year, the trade fair boasted record figures with more than 18,000 trade visitors from 127 countries and 600 exhibitors from 42 countries.

The purpose of the test site is to further develop new automatic sensors and methods for detecting lorry and passenger car traffic offences in order to increase road safety. This test site located at 48,500 km in the direction of Munich on the “Im Moos” car park was opened in the presence of numerous honorary guests from the world of politics, science, traffic and the police. ProContour from Waldshut-Tiengen was among the guests; it presented its tyre measuring system and, in the coming weeks, will carry out further measurements in collaboration with the police and the Federal Office of Goods Transport (BAG).

Thomas Dörflinger, member of the German Bundestag, finds out about the tyre measuring system
When visiting ProContour in Waldshut-Tiengen, Thomas Dörflinger found out more about tyre measuring systems and their benefits for the citizen. During the product demonstration, he saw for himself the flawless operation of the measuring device and also had a look at the “secret halls” of the high-tech company. One of the key areas of interest for Mr. Dörflinger was the possibilities offered by the measuring system for environmental protection, traffic safety and operating efficiency. There is potential in all three areas. “ProContour offers great possibilities for development and defies all critics who maintain that the High Rhine is no place for a high-tech company”, said Thomas Dörflinger after his visit.
